MEXICO CITY — Gustavo Mohar comes very recently from a long and distinguished career as a public official in the Mexican Government.

During the last 18 years he was directly involved in Mexico’s relations with Central America and the United States. On Mexico-US relations he specialized in  migration, security, and border issues. He was Chief Negotiator for Migration Affairs when both governments started conversations to agree on bilateral migration.  After 9/11,  he was part of the select group in establishing bilateral mechanisms to prevent terrorism and enhance the common border security. In recent years he worked on Mexican national security. His latest role in government was in 2012 when he was appointed Under Secretary for Migration Population and Religious Affairs at the Secretaría de Gobernación.

Mr. Mohar is now an independent consultant.
